In what has been a whirlwind year, we have been blessed to still see champions crowned in a handful of sports. Freddie Gibbs, Big Sean and Hit-Boy teamed up to create their own championship celebration in the video for "4 Thangs."
The four-minute visual, directed by Nick Walker, is like a mini-documentary showing Gibbs, Sean Don and the megaproducer at a press conference after winning a basketball championship, their fourth title. They're smoking cigars, probably a nod to LeBron James' own press conference when the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Finals, their 17th title, earlier this month.
There are purple and gold elements strewn throughout the "4 Thangs" video, furthering the homage to the latest NBA Champions and team that Kobe Bryant made his legacy with. Stay tuned for a good laugh at the end as Big Sean, Hit-Boy and Freddie Gibbs each chose quite different ways to retire from hoops.
It looks like none of them are retiring from the music game anytime soon. They've each put in plenty of work this year. Gibbs released his "Alfredo" project with Alchemist in May and has appeared on tracks for several other people while Big Sean released "Detroit 2" in September, which was produced by Hit-Boy. And the beatsmith didn't stop there as he produced Nas' "King's Disease" album and he has his fingerprints on many more.
So a championship video is much-deserved for all three.
